Shabina joined EPIC-Norfolk in May 2002 as the research manager, she led the strategic planning and the operational requirements of the project and was chair of the EPIC-Norfolk steering committee until the end of 2018. Shabina completed her Undergraduate degree at Queen Mary University of London and her Masters in Virology at the University of Surrey. While setting up the Third Health Check in 2004, Shabina developed her interest in cognition, in particular the influence of modifiable lifestyle factors on cognitive decline and dementia. This led to her PhD titled ‘The Epidemiology of Cognitive Function’.
