The Panel is currently actively looking for new members. If any existing EPIC participants are willing to join the Panel they should contact Nichola Dalzell on 01603 218165.
The Panel were informed that recent documents they have worked on (latest EPIC newsletter and participant information leaflets) are currently going out with the approach for the EPIC Fourth Health Check (4HC).
Kate Westgate, Physical Activity Specialist from the MRC Epidemiology Unit in Cambridge gave a very interesting talk to members about measuring physical activity, accelerometry and the EPIC study. She described the definition of physical activity, how we can measure it more precisely, why it is an important measure and the possible methods for doing this.
An update of the 4HC activities was provided. The Panel members were asked to provide feedback and comments on the proposed format and content of the results feedback letters and covering information which will be provided as part of the 4HC.
The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page on the website has been reviewed by the researchers and a draft copy uploaded to the website. The Panel members were asked to review this and forward their queries, comments, or additions for consideration.
Feedback was also given regarding Panel members’ involvement in a study looking at Public and Patient Involvement in Research.
